Michael Foster

Singer / Songwriter / Producer

Hi, my name is Michael Foster, some call me Mike, my Dad called me Mick. My old friend Walter used to call me
“Clarence the Younger,” and my old friend Larry called me “Duke.” My grand boys call me Jeeps and my son calls me Pop. People my age don’t have one name.

Hey, thanks for taking a look at my site. I’ve been asked so many times over the past for more information
about my career, so here’s some of it. Not that it’s been particularly grandiose, but I must say it’s been a great ride and I can’t think of anything I would trade it for. Time to time I’ll be posting memories and sharing stories,
starting with the 60’s.

As of 2021 I’ve had 17 million record sales as a writer and always working for more. I’ll be offering up quite a few of my songs on this site so if you’d care to check them out please do, I’ll add new ones as they come around.

I’ve worked with artists from The Oak Ridge Boys to Little Richard; Jerry Lee Lewis to Percy Sledge. Some famous, some not so familiar but very talented.

I mentioned stories to tell so here’s one:
I spent 2 weeks with Little Richard in the early 70’s working on a double album. What a trip! When it was
time to record his master vocals I kept the 2 track running at all times to catch any stories he might have leapt into. One was about when people would say to him what a travesty it was for Pat Boone to have a hit with “Tutti Fruiti”, making tons of money, and his version wasn’t given the airplay it deserved because he was Black… Paraphrase— “Pat Boone made me a star in America and all that came with it, plus I got paid back on a lot of the royalties I was missing. I’m grateful to the man for introducing me and showing me off to White folks.”
More Little Richard stories later!
